Dear Fancier,

As most of you will now be aware Terry McGarvey handed over the secretaries’ post to me at the end of 2013. I am sure you will all agree Terry has done a fantastic job and we thank him for all his hard work! Terry will still continue to play an active part in the Society.

Now a new chapter starts, the decision has been made to move our show venue, we felt that this was very much needed to enhance the show day for both Fanciers and Pigeons alike. We have decided to move to Myerscough College, at Bilsborrow, some of you may remember the venue as I believe we have hosted our show here a good few years ago. For those that haven’t, the new venue is in a great location just 15 minutes off the M6, with a large well lit arena meaning we can continue to stage the show single tiered. The car park is large and situated next to the arena with easy access for all. The venue also has a fully heated seated gallery, café serving home cooked food from 8.30am till the end of the show day. Also a fully equipped PA System for those all important presentations, also we have a meeting room available, should anyone require the use of the room then please let me know before the end of September.

Sometime has now lapsed since Lancashire Show Pigeon Society had an active club membership, the decision therefore has been made to re-launch a membership to  the society and once again look into forming a show committee.

The members will receive an annual newsletter, and feature any articles or photos on the new club website. Looking further ahead, hopefully with support we could look into the possibility of holding an annual members show in the local area.

Anyone who wishes to be part of the show committee and assist with the running of our Championship Show in November then please let me know, whether its stewarding on the day , helping with the sections or running the raffle. As most of you are aware staging a show requires a lot of work and planning.

If you wish to become a member of Lancashire Show Pigeon Society then please complete the form which will be sent out with the schedules and return with your entries, drop me an email or complete the form which is available now on our website. The annual membership fee is £5.00.

Let’s hope we can continue to grow and look forward to a very special show for the 40th anniversary in 2016.

Kind Regards,

Helen Seed, Secretary
